Welcome to Coventry Youth for Christ

Coventry Youth for Christ (CYFC) is a local youth work charity, working within various districts of the city, with a vision to see every young person in Coventry reached with the Good News of Jesus. Over the past four years, we have worked directly with hundreds of young people in local schools and through outreach projects, helping those young people explore issues of faith and hope for the future.

CYFC is one of over 70 local Youth For Christ centres operating across the UK, each being an independent charity and a partner organisation of British Youth for Christ (BYFC), a national Christian charity founded by Billy Graham in 1946. Nationally, YFC specialises in working with over 250,000 un-churched young people each month and draws alongside teens from every background and culture in Britain: communicating and demonstrating the Christian faith.

A new iD for Coventry Young People…

Back in May, CYFC were involved in hosting a huge youth event in the centre of Coventry as part of the city-wide Pentecost celebrations. With special guests Mike Pilavachi and Tom Smith, the event was a huge success seeing hundreds of young people coming to worship Jesus and several making faith commitments.

id-business-card-flyer-frontThe success of the Pentecost event served as confirmation that regular worship experiences are something that the young people of Coventry are both keen for and in need of, which is a key part of the story of our new monthly event, “iD”…

It’s been over 2 years since Steph Pring had the idea of a youth event, when God put it on her heart, but she didn’t feel she was the right person to make it happen and so “put it on the back burner for ages” she admits.

Later, when Steph began volunteering with us here at CYFC, she mentioned the idea to our director, Jon, and discovered that he too was passionate about seeing such an event brought to fruition. Steph got straight to planning the first event, working with youth leaders from across Coventry who shared her passion and were fully behind the idea.

The first pilot event of iD took place in July. A total of 34 young people attended from various churches across the city, coming together to praise God wholeheartedly and focus on Him.

We ran our second iD event in September and the leadership team are excited about developing the event over the coming months.

“I hope that we can develop and grow these events over time” says Steph. “Through iD all of the team want to see young people experiencing God in new ways, being encouraged and built up in their faith and inviting their friends along.”

We would love you to join us for these events! Bring your youth group along on the third Sunday of every month, 7-8.30pm, for further details please check our Facebook page.

Cycle Europe 2016

Cycle Europe 2016At the start of July 2016, our director, Jon and a couple of friends cycled across Europe, passing through seven countries in just six days to raise vital funds for CYFC.

You can now read the full story of his journey HERE.

Thank you to everyone that supported this ride.

If you would like to show your support for Jon’s massive achievement, you can still sponsor him online at http://www.justgiving.com/cycleeuropeJM

Here at CYFC, we love youth cafes! They are a fantastic and simple tool that can be used to engage with young people from both local communities and local secondary schools.

We are really looking forward to be running lunch-time youth cafes again at a local secondary school during Holy Week. To find out more about Drench Youth Cafes, click here.
